Postpartum & Newborn Care

[contact-form-7 404 "Not Found"]At the Healthy Mother Natural Birthing Center, The Sanctum, mothers and babies are never separated after birth. Baby exams are done right next to the mother by default, unless medically required otherwise. We keep parents in the loop in every way throughout the newborn baby examination. We encourage early breastfeeding, typically within the first hour of birth. Immediately after your baby’s birth you are supported 24 hours with lactation support so that breastfeeding is well-established before you leave the Center. Our pediatrician also visits your baby to check on her health, as needed throughout your stay at the Center. Before heading back home with your baby, you are counseled on what to expect over the next few days and weeks, as a new mother (and father), and how to keep an eye (and ear) open for monitoring your baby’s health as she gets accustomed to life with you.

During this time we are available 24×7 on call for any postpartum queries, concerns or for lactation support. You will then have follow-up visits at 1 week, 2 weeks and then at 6-weeks. During these visits, we will weigh and measure your baby, provide immunization information, including pros and cons, and give you any other parental guidance that you need. The 6-week postpartum visit is also designed to address Family Planning needs, and to ensure that everything is back to normal. This schedule is flexible and and could be adjusted according to your needs.

We welcome you to visit our center or contact us.
