Helping mothers rediscover natural birth

Forth Worth, Dallas, USA, September 17, 2011, Lamaze International Annual Conference:

On September 17, 2011, at the Lamaze International Annual Conference in Fort Worth, Dallas,  Dr. Vijaya Krishnan was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators (FACCE) for distinguished contribution to the field of childbirth education.

Dr. Vijaya Krishnan becomes the first and only childbirth educator in India awarded this distinguished recognition. Dr. Vijaya also taught, along with Sharron Gibbs of Douglas College, a 2 day workshop for aspiring Lamaze Trainers.

Dr. Vijaya Krishnan, DPT, MS, LCCE, FACCE runs the Healthy Mother Natural Birthing Center, The Sanctum, in Hyderabad along with her husband and is nationally recognized childbirth educator, doula and a practicing midwife.

Accepting this award Dr. Vijaya Krishnan said, “It is very humbling to me that our work at Healthy Mother has been recognized by such diverse worldwide body of birth professionals. This is an award for all my colleagues at Healthy Mother, as well as for the wonderful people in the natural birth movement in India. This award is also a recognition to my mentor and friend Kathie Lindstrom, of Douglas College, Vancouver, Canada who has been a constant source of inspiration and support for the work that we do at Healthy Mother.

At the Healthy Mother Natural Birthing Center, The Sanctum, mothers have full freedom to labor on their own under 24 hour support and nurturing care, without unnecessary interventions such as Epidurals, Inductions and C-Sections. The Sanctum is also equipped with complete emergency backup infrastructure in case of a complication, thereby giving mothers the best of all worlds. In addition, women have access to a full range of services from Prenatal Checkups to Postpartum Care, assisted by a team of Midwives, Doulas, Nurses and backup OB/Gyns. Normal delivery rates at The Sanctum are nearly 80% which are among the highest in India.
