Healthy Mother welcomes into its Advisory Board, three world renowned experts and advocates of holistic best practices in maternal, fetal and newborn care – Dianne Garland, Robbie Davis-Floyd and Debra Pascali-Bonero, who will provide valuable guidance and mentorship to senior management in implementation of its strategic vision and its goal of positively impacting the lives of expecting mothers, new mothers and babies.Each member of the Board of Advisors is respected globally, much sought after for their experience and wisdom and for theor deep committment towards bringing about positive change in birth practices across the world.
Dianne Garland, SRN RM ADM PGCEA MSc
Dianne has been a midwife since 1983 and teaching about waterbirth since 1989. Her work has taken her all over the world, from Australia, China, United States and India. She has written numerous articles with a new version of her book “Revisiting waterbirth – an attitude to care” published Palgrave Dec.2010. Dianne works as an expert witness, University lecturer and maintains her clinical skills on a midwife led and consultant unit at a local hospital. She is Director for Clinical Governance at Waterbirth International and Waterbirth consultant to Wenzhou Oriental maternity unit China.
In 2005, Dianne became a freelance midwifery expert to expand these roles within her company http://www.midwifeexpert.co.uk.
Since this time, Dianne has continued to work around the world and develop new roles and interests as:

- 2012 Appointed professional advisor to CQC
- 2013 Gentle birth guardian trainer.
Dr. Robbie Davis-Floyd, PhD
Robbie Davis-Floyd PhD, Senior Research Fellow, Dept. of Anthropology, University of Texas Austin and Fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology, is a world-renowned medical anthropologist, international speaker and researcher in transformational models in childbirth, midwifery and obstetrics. She is author of over 80 articles and of Birth as an American Rite of Passage (1992, 2004), co-author of From Doctor to Healer: The Transformative Journey (1998) and The Power of Ritual (forthcoming), and lead editor of 10 collections, the latest of which is Birth Models That Work (2009), which highlights optimal models of birth care around the world. Volume II: Birth on the Global Edge, coedited with Betty-Anne Daviss, is in process.
Dr. Davis-Floyd’s current research project studies the paradigm shifts of holistic obstetricians in Brazil. Robbie serves as Editor for the International MotherBaby Childbirth Initiative (IMBCI): 10 Steps to Optimal Maternity Care (http://www.imbci.org), Board Member of the International MotherBaby Childbirth Organization (IMBCO), and Senior Advisor to the Council on Anthropology and Reproduction.
Debra Pascali Bonaro is a world-renowned advocate and teacher of gentle birth practices. She has trained thousands of doulas and birth professionals around the world in practices of gentle birth support to mothers and babies. Debra is the Chairperson of the International MotherBaby Childbirth Organization (IMBCO), a member of the White Ribbon Alliance, Lamaze International, former PR Chair of DONA International and co-author of the best-selling book, ‘Orgasmic Birth – Your Guide to a Safe, Satisfying and Pleasurable Birth’.
Debra’s commitment and passion for advocating Mother-Baby friendly birth practices has been acknowledged in the form of speaking invitations, featured interviews and guest articles in the media, including ABC’s 20/20, The NBC Today Show, Discovery Health, The New York Times, The LA Times, The UK Times as well as numerous parenting and health magazines around the world.
